Obituary for Rose Marie Sawyer (Spinney)

Rose Marie Sawyer passed away peacefully on October 4, 2017 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester. She was 82. She leaves her husband of 60 years, Lawrence “Skip” B. Sawyer; her children, Lawrence B. Sawyer Jr. of Berlin; Micheal L. Sawyer and Janet Lamy of Berlin; Linda M. Sawyer of Old Lyme, CT; her grandchildren, Shawn Sawyer, Katelyn Sawyer, Joshua Sawyer, Micheal L. Sawyer II (Guy) and Jonathan Sidney Sawyer; her brother, Skip Spinney of Berlin; her sister, Rita Morris of Canada; several nieces and nephews. Born in Concord, and raised in Acton and Berlin, she was the daughter of Seward and Mary (Lawrence) Spinney. Rose graduated from Hudson High School, class of 1952. She later graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester and maintained her R.N. status for many years. Mrs. Sawyer devoted most of her time raising her family and working 50 plus years in the family business, Skip Sawyer and Sons Excavating. She was a former member of the Tahanto School Committee and an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish. Skip and Rose enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to Florida for over 30 years.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 11th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph the Good Provider Church, 52 West Street, Berlin. (Please Go Directly to Church.)
