Elinor C. (Provost) Rowe, 82, passed away on June 8, 2019, after a very brief illness. She was the loving mother to Daniel D. Rowe and his wife Gay of Sammamish, WA and Linda C. Tracy and her husband Alan of Venice, FL (formerly from Leicester MA). She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren, Jason Tracy and his wife Shay, Alex Tracy and his wife Denise, Taylor Miller and her husband Zak, and Kyle Rowe; as well as two great-grandchildren, Masen Mark Tracy and Cameron Miller.

Elinor was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late Edward M. and Carol M. (Bly) Provost. She moved to Northborough at a young age and graduated Northborough High School, Class of 1955. Elinor worked for the former Atkins & Merrill Co in Marlborough prior to 15 years at Fenwall Electronics in Framingham where she served as a lab technician and retired as a production control planner. A highlight in Elinor’s life was leaving the manufacturing world to fulfil her dream to own and operate a pet supply retail store, which she did for 10 years.

Elinor loved all animals, especially dogs, cats and horses. For over 25 years she was a dog obedience trainer in addition to showing her own dogs across the US and Canada. In her later years she spent much time with her horse, Lilly. She also found enjoyment in painting, golf, bowling and playing her harmonica with the Northborough Senior Center Harmonica Club.

Calling hours for Elinor are Sunday, June 16th, from 1-4pm, Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. A time of reflection and interment will be held at 11am on Monday, June 17th at Hillcrest Park and Cemetery, 895 Parker St, Springfield, MA. At Elinor’s request, please omit all flowers. Her specific wishes are to be memorialized through donations for the Black Feather Horse Rescue, c/o Darlene Nickerson, P.O. Box 3145, Plymouth, MA 02361 (

Ms. Elinor was a special person every time I saw her she had the biggest and warmest smile and made me fell like a son. she always wanted to know if I was okay and how was the family. When she came to Washington state and if I would missed her she would always ask how is the Cannman!! That's what she would called me. I miss her already but I know she is in a better place and doing just fine. God Bless Her and the family.

My mother and I are truly sorry for the loss of a kind person. My mother and father have been neighbors of Elinor for more than 20 years. She has always been a kind, sweet and considerate neighbor. After moving in with my mom, Elinor and I have exchanged conversations about animals (we both being avid animal lovers) and about family. She recalls of seeing my own children grown into adulthood and watching the wonderful gardens my father had grown. I watched the love she had for her dog Chelsea when she went for her evening walks. She loved my lasagna I had brought to her last month!
Our thoughts are with the family during this trying time.
Sweet Elinor, Rest in Peace! Jackie Santoro

Eli always had a kind word for everyone. Her smile she gave away like gold. She always took the time to stop and speak with
my grandmother and I. Sweet sweet woman, she will be missed around the town.

My condolences to the family for your loss. 25 years ago I brought my Dalmatian puppy to her puppy training class in Randolph. She saw something special in that pup and encouraged me to continue with further training. This introduced me to the world of performance dog shows and some wonderful friends. We have all kept in touch through the years and continued to get together for a summer BBQ. THANK YOU ELI for your encouragement and friendship! I am saddened learn of your passing but I’m sure there are many furry friends greeting you. ❤️ 🐾
