Obituary

MARLBOROUGH

Gail E. (Squires) Hansen, 80, a longtime resident of Marlborough, passed away at Mass General Hospital, Boston. She was a strong, brave woman who courageously fought multiple health issues right up until the very end. She was the loving wife of 60 years to Carl R. Hansen and a generous, loving mother to her three children.

Gail was born and raised in Boston, one of five children to the late Samuel L. and Gertrude E. (Thompson) Squires. She was a graduate of the former Girl’s Latin H.S. and worked numerous years as an administrative assistant at TJX Corporate Headquarters, Framingham.

Gail and Carl relocated to Marlborough from Roslindale in 1973. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Mahjong or Whisk with her many friends. For several years Gail served as a Marlborough Brownie Troop Leader.

In addition to her husband Carl, Gail is survived by her three children: Eric Hansen and his wife Becky of Jaffrey, NH, Lisa Hansen of Lenox, MA, and Scott Hansen and his wife Lindsay of Jenson Beach, FL; six grandchildren: Michael, Jeremy, Kaylah, Connor, Noah and Saraphina; two sisters: Janet Coletti of Medfield, MA and Linda Chartier of Manchester, NH; as well as many nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by her two siblings, Joan Brown and Richard Squires. Gail also leaves her lifelong best friend, Rosemarie Nashawaty, as well as many other lifelong friends.

Due to current Covid19 social restrictions, all services will be private for the immediate family. A time for all to gather and celebrate Gail’s life will be held at a later time. Gail’s family respectfully request memorial donations be directed to the American Lung Assn, POB 11039, Lewiston, ME 04243-9409 (www.lung.org) in her honor.

At a very young age. I found myself curious over the arrival of a new family moving in across the street on tucker ave. Although I had lots of toys of my own and a family of my own. I had to know all about the hansens. Just about every day there was knock at the door and i was greeted by Mrs Hansen. Come on in she said. We had great times. Later as i was growing up and working i had the great pleasure of working with mrs hansen who later became Gail my boss and freind at IFR Furnature Rentals. She taught me how to be a professional office associate. I learned how to get to the bottom things. How to dig in and resolve all issues. I always appreciated Gail for that. I was later refered to the TJX Company by Gail. She was a good freind and i will always miss my visits with her at my seat on the love seat and her at the Sofa. My most recent memory was our time at Foxwoods where Ben and I were able to comp a room for Carl and Gail. We had a nice dinner then Gail beat me at the race to the slot machines.
Rest in Peace Gail. Lots of Love to you, Carl, Eric, Lisa and Scott.

oh Carol Ann that warmed my heart so deeply! I still remember the day we moved to the neighborhood and I saw a little girl and little boy (David) peering over so curiously. What a warm welcome to our new home we had. They always knew it was you when we heard "the knock." And yes, you had your permanent seat on the loveseat, and she had hers on the couch! That will forever be "your seat." She loved. and appreciated you so much. I had no idea about IFR, so that really touches me. Your family means so much to us, thank you for sharing your memories with us. Love you xoLisa

Lisa, Carl and family,
I was shocked to read about your Mom. I saw her not too long ago at the Northboro Senior Center. She recognized me and I didn't recognize her. I am so very sorry for your loss. We had so much fun at "the club" back in the day and Lisa, you were still the BEST babysitter ever. May your mother RIP.

I have lived next door to Gail for many years. She has always been so friendly and nice:) I always admired her talent with plants, and, as I have none, would ask her advice when I was trying to grow something:) She was always friend
ly and helpful.
