Obituary for George C. Cedar

George C. Cedar, 91, passed away on October 9, 2018 after a short period of declining health. His beloved wife of nearly 71 years, Lorraine A. (Bergeron) Cedar passed away April 25th of this year.
George is survived by his children, Richard Cedar and his wife Maureen of Sutton; David Cedar and his wife “Deda” of Erin, NY; Michael Cedar of Worcester; Karie Hagerty and her husband Peter of Weare, NH; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters, Shirly and Joan Cedar.
Born in Marlborough and raised in Northborough, he was the son of George H. and Sylvia (Letendre) Cedar. George graduated from Northborough High School in 1945. Shortly after graduation George proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. Upon his return he married the love of his life, Lorraine.
George worked for 37 years at the former Bay State Abrasives, Co in Westboro before retiring as a production foreman in 1986. Along with Lorraine they lived by example, serving the residents of Berlin by providing and delivering meals for Berlin seniors for well over 25 years and supporting their church. George acted as coach for the Berlin Little League Red Sox team for numerous years and later as an umpire. From 1957-87 he served a Cub Scout Master in Berlin. He served as a town dispatcher for 25 years. Together with their family they loved camping in Sutton and at Crystal Springs Campground in Bolton and bowling at Sawyer’s in Northborough. His family and friends will always remember George’s quick and perfectly timed wit that could catch anyone by surprise.
