Obituary for Jack Lyons

John W. Lyons, affectionately known by all as “Jack”, died on November 4, 2018 as a result of an accidental drowning; he was 51 years old. Jack was born in Worcester on May 25, 1967, the youngest of four children to John J. and Barbara E. (Leary) Lyons. He attended Northborough Public schools and Algonquin Regional High School, Class of 1985 and remained a lifelong resident of Northborough.

Jack worked at Flynn’s Truck Stop in Shrewsbury for over 25 years, many of which he was the night manager. In more recent years Jack worked at a machinist at Ruland Manufacturing Co. and Apahouser, Inc. Family and friends, old and new alike, meant a lot to Jack. He enjoyed a good game of chess and was proud to have taught his nieces and nephews to play, even though they often outplayed him. He was an avid sports enthusiast and could always be found routing for the Boston home teams. As for the numbers, if Keno were a sport, Jack would be an All-star!

In addition to his mother, Barbara Lyons of Milford, NH, formerly of Northborough, Jack is survived by his three siblings, Steven J. Lyons of Worcester, Nancy E. Manning and her husband Tom of Merrimack, NH, and Daniel J. Lyons and his wife Tammy of Northborough; five nieces and nephews, Jessica Desposito, Joe Lyons, Emily Manning, Michael Manning, and Lisa Manning, and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
