Kevin F. Humphrey, 61, passed away at the UMASS Memorial Medical Center’s University Campus on Saturday, September 7, 2019. Kevin was the proud father of his three children, Tina Nason and her husband Kenneth of W. Brookfield, Michelle Smith and her husband Christopher of E. Brookfield, and Scott Humphrey and his wife Leanne of Worcester. Big K, as he was affectionately known as, was the loving grandfather to his 12 grandchildren, Alexis, Ryanne, Teagan, Angeliz, Novalee, Samantha, Marabeth, Nicholas, Brianna, Brandon, Hailey and Brian, and 1 great grandson, Leeland. Kevin also is survived by a brother, Wayne Humphrey and four sisters, Maureen Dion, Brenda Blake, Patty Humphrey and Sharon Merick. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Douglas.

Kevin was born in Holden, a son to the late Richard and Nellie (Sinclair) Humphrey, Sr. He grew up in Northborough and graduated with the Algonquin Regional High School’s Class of 1975. Kevin worked a short time in construction prior to becoming the groundskeeper for the Westborough Public School Department.

Kevin was a fan of vintage cars, most especially old Chevrolets, and enjoyed attending shows and cruise nights. Motorcycles, model car building and swapping a story or two were other enjoyable past times for Kevin. More than anything he looked forward to spending time with his beloved children and grandchildren. Friends and family will always remember Big K’s gentle teddy bear demeanor and kind heart.
Calling hours for Kevin will be held in the Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 12. A time of Prayer and Remembrance will immediately follow at 7pm.

I will forever remember Kevin for many years of great memories. When I was young my sister Cherrie and Kevin,s Wife Sue were good friends in high school. My mom worked in the kitchen at Hastings school and Kevin would stop by the house some times as he knew my love of motorcycles, He would show me a new bike he bought and take me for a ride- quite a thrill as a youngster. My association with Kevin led in part to my love of old cars and bikes and to a career as an automotive repair technician for many years. I was always friendly with him, but became even better friends as we discovered a shared interest in model kits and building them .There were many times I would have a problem with something not going together well, and a call to Kevin usually resulted in a solution. When he became sick and lost his leg I was happy to search out models for him as well as myself , my wife and I were always happy to see the thrill and enjoyment they brought to him. I will miss him more than I can ever put in words , and have shed many tears this past week. He was one of my best friends ever. I can say I am a better person as a result of his limitless friendship .forever in my memories . god bless!

Anytime he called you you knew you were going to be on the phone for at least an hour if not more probably telling you a story you have heard a dozen times or more.
I'm not sure how I'm going do all this without you. I find myself reaching for the phone just to hear your voice one more time but I know your not going to answer. Today will be the hardest day for us kids to say our last goodbyes but I know you will watch over us all even your grandkids and great grandson. Until we see each other again I will think of you and miss you every day until then. I love you R.I.P dad ❤❤❤❤❤

Omgoodness the many memories of my daddy I would write a book if I said all the memories but I will say this he was not the richest man and he couldn't give us kids everything but what he did was give us so much love and listen when we needed him. I don't know of any phone call that he would never say I love you. He loved his grandchildren and his new great grandson. I will miss all your stories even though I heard alot of them 2 or 3 times. Me and my dad had such a beautiful relationship over the years I couldn't have asked for a better dad. Daddy will always be missed by so many I love you so much. Love always and forever your little girl ❤
