Norma Maltais, 90, passed away April 9, 2020 at Coleman House in Northborough. Born January 30, 1930 in Revere, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Smith. Norma passed peacefully of natural causes with family by her side.

Norma and her late husband of 62 years Albert, raised 11 children in Medway and Franklin, MA. A kind and welcoming person, Norma was known for her never-ending bowls of pasta that always seemed to have enough for one of her children’s visiting friends. Whether it was her hairdresser, car mechanic or person behind the deli counter, she was beloved by all she met.

Norma retired after more than 20 years with the New York, New England Telephone Company (NYNEX) in Southborough, MA. Upon retirement in 1996 she and her husband moved to the Villages in Central Florida. There they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and friends and were active members of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church. Norma’s final years were spent in the care of family in the Villages and Boylston, MA.

Norma is survived by her children Deborah Arcand, Paul Maltais, Diane Cornelis, Denise Molinaro, Doreen Scheufele, Phil Maltais, Steve Maltais, Tom Maltais and Donna Petersen; 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and her sister Virginia Whitten of Revere. She is predeceased by her husband, sons Russell and Kenny Maltais, son-in-law Anthony Molinaro, daughter-in-law Deborah Maltais, great-grandchildren Theodore and Nathaniel Maltais, her parents, sister Joan Donegan and brother Alfred Smith.

Services will be scheduled in Massachusetts and Florida later this year. Service information will be announced here, once set. Your Mom’s love, her laugh, the memories you made, the life lessons that will always stay with you… these are her gifts to you. Hoping that the good memories and stories of your Mom will bring comfort as you find your way through this difficult time. Hugs and prayers to the whole family.

Maltais Family,
My sincere sympathy on the loss of your Mom. It was lovely to have your Mom back in the area. She, my Mom and Aunt Tiny had great times together in the past few years. It was so lovely to have her at the Coleman House where she and my Mom had spent time together. My family, Doreen and Phil were able to visit both the Moms and your Mom loved when we bought her coffee. It was nice to be with her and to enjoy her company as I had so many years ago. She was very happy and was a wonderful Mom who will be missed by all... Debbie Donegan Durgin
