Marlborough - Helen J. (Bond) Shamey passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Coleman House of Northborough, with family by her bedside. She was 93. Her husband, James N. Shamey, M.D. died in 1985. She leaves behind her loving children, James N. Shamey Jr. (Kathleen) of Leverett; Donese Sylvester (Robert) of Marlborough; Paula Smith-Shamey (Paul) of Agoura Hills, CA; Lenore Shamey (late Lynn Harvey) of Winston-Salem, NC; Robert Shamey (Laurie) of W. Brookfield; eight grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Cobb of NJ; many nieces and nephews. Born in Plainfield, NJ, and raised in Collingswood, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Smith) Bond. A pediatric nurse by profession, Mrs. Shamey graduated from Presbyterian School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Helen raised her family in Attleboro while assisting her husband in his medical practice. Mrs. Shamey was an accomplished seamstress. She loved reading, traveling, cooking and was the ultimate homemaker. A private graveside service will be held in North Purchase Cemetery in Attleboro. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in Helen's memory may be made to American Cancer Society, Parkinson's Disease Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
