James "Jim" Tyler, 73, of Green Valley, AZ, formerly of Northborough, MA passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2016 at Tucson Medical Center. Jim was born in Ware, MA on March 18, 1943 to Warren and Ellen Tyler of Palmer, MA. He graduated from Palmer High School Class of 1960. In 1961, he joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in Feb. 1966. On 6/6/66 he started working for Mass. Electric Co, Westborough. Later that year he met Christine Simmons at work and they were married June 1, 1968. Jim went to college nights and graduated from Worcester State College. He retired from National Grid in 2004 and contracted for nearly two more years. He and his wife then moved to Green Valley, AZ where they often said they were living in paradise. He leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend, Christine (Simmons); his two dear children Sally Boyd (William) of Marlborough and Erik (Taelyn) of Charlotte, NC; the grandchildren he adored Jennie, Kylie and step grandson Ryan; brother-in-law Richard Simmons; Sisters Judy Sawyer (Don) of Michigan; Janice Tyler of Texas; Marilyn Showers (Michael) of SC and brother Curt of Vermont; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough, from 5 - 7 pm on Friday, June 3. The funeral procession will leave Hays Funeral Home Saturday, June 4th at 1:15 p.m. for a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. in Howard Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. First Visitation
