Knollin "Bud" M. Spencer passed away at Metrowest Medical in Framingham on August 8, 2014, after a short illness. He was 75. Mr. Spencer leaves his son, Kevin Spencer of Lincoln, RI and his daughter, Kim Branche of Worcester; his companion with whom he lived, Betty Wilder; his extended family which includes seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Worcester, he was the son of George and Evelyn P. (Moore) Spencer. Mr. Spencer graduated from North High School in Worcester. Bud lived in Northborough for the past 20 years and is formerly of Boylston. He was employed as Chief of Security for General Motors in Framingham for 25 years retiring in 1989. Mr. Spencer served on the Boylston Board of Selectmen and was a volunteer fireman there. He proudly served his country in the Army overseas in Turkey. Bud was a 30-year member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Assabet Valley Flotilla, and a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed boating and summered on Cape Cod.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at 6:30 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., G 120, Boston, MA 02215 (In memory of Knollin Spencer & Multiple Myeloma).
