Pauline M. (Mitchell) Quinlan, a longtime resident of Northborough, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 26, 2018; she was 90 years old. Pauline was born in Stoneham, the youngest of seven children to the late Hebert G. and Mabel E. (Cooper) Mitchell. After graduating from Wakefield High School in 1945, Pauline remained in the Boston area and worked in an accounting department for the U.S. Navy. During this time she met a young accountant, John "Jack" H. Quinlan, Jr. They were married soon after and would have celebrated 71 years of marriage on November 30th. In 1960 Pauline and Jack moved their young family to Northborough. She was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Parish and belonged to its Women's Club. Always active, Pauline took pride in keeping an immaculate home and preparing wonderful meals for her family. She loved reading, nature and the Arts, particularly music and dance. Pauline found joy in celebrating holidays, most especially Christmas, with friends and family. Pauline and Jack liked to travel together, whether it be to Europe, the Islands, across the U.S.A or in more recent years, their daily trips to Hannaford's. Her family will always remember her quick wit, caring heart, and the ability to remember everyone's special day with a call or card. Pauline is survived by her husband; their five children, Linda Q. Holbrook and her husband Michael of Fairhaven, John R. Quinlan of Arundel, ME, Nancy E. Quinlan of Worcester, Joanne C. Borus and her husband Gregory of Millbury, and Paul M. Quinlan of Leominster. She also leaves five grandchildren, Melanie Sullivan, William Holbrook, Leah Chiaravalloti, Carly Wilks, and Andrew Borus, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by John Quinlan's wife, Beth, and Paul Quinlan's wife, Karen. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, October 30th at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, October 31st, from St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 W. Main Street, Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery. Pauline's family respectfully asks that in her memory, please take time to call a friend or send a card to brighten someone's day, just as she would do.
