Shrewsbury - Richard E. Drapeau, of Shrewsbury Crossings, passed away August 10, 2015 at UMass Memorial Healthcare (University Campus) He was 89. His wife Barbara I. (Magyar) Drapeau died in 2008. He leaves behind his sons, Stephen Drapeau and his wife Donna of Webster; Randy Drapeau and his wife Linda of West Boylston; his daughter, Christine Rybacki and her husband Larry of Shrewsbury. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. He is predeceased by sisters Patricia and Ann. Born and raised in Concord, NH, he was the son of Ernest and Gertrude (Smyth) Drapeau. Richard worked for Honeywell Corp. as a computer technician for 20 years and retired in the 1980s. Mr. Drapeau lived in the Birchwood community of Northborough before to Shrewsbury three years ago. Music was his passion, and he enjoyed crossword puzzles. Mr. Drapeau truly loved his Shrewsbury Crossing community. The staff and his friends there made it a special place to live. Richard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. His funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10 a.m. in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St. Northborough. There are no calling hours.
