Russell E. Uppstrom passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 1, 2019; he was 88 years old. His wife, Murial J. (Miller) Uppstrom passed away in 2014. Russell was born and raised Worcester, a son to the late Wilfred and Helen (Smith) Uppstrom. He graduated from the former Worcester Boy's Trade HS; his training focused in precision machining.
Russell continued to use this training throughout his professional and personal life. In the 1960's he started REM manufacturing and for over 40 years was the go-to for custom designed and manufactured wooden shutters. During his free time he redesigned and manufactured custom woodwork for his home, which he was proud of. Russell looked forward to road trips up North with his beloved daughter and family. He loved spending time in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and listening to jazz music. For many years he was active in the Swedish American Club of Shrewsbury.
Among his survivors Russell leaves his daughter, Elaine "Lana" M. Woyda, her husband Paul; two grandchildren Sophia and William Woyda, all of Sudbury; a sister, Betty Oliver and her husband William of Shrewsbury and a sister-in-law, Arlene Uppstrom. A brother, Bill Uppstrom preceded Russell in death.
Russell's family extends a heartfelt thank you to Snell Jesuca for the care and attention Snell provided which allowed Russell to remain at home. At Russell's request all services were private. Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough assisted Russell's family with all arrangements.
