Obituary

Northborough/Leominster - Virginia R. (Wheeler) Harriman, 89, of Leominister, formerly of Church St. Northborough, died October 15, 2013 in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a brief illness. She leaves her son Mark Harriman and his wife Eve of Leominster; her daughter Judy Harriman also of Leominster; two grandchildren, Olivia Harriman and Dawson Harriman; a brother, Joseph Wheeler of Florida and a sister Shirley Hines of Franklin; many nieces and nephews; among her relatives are Jeff Harriman and Sharon Rainville of Berlin. Born in Northborough and raised in Berlin, Virginia was the daughter of the late Emerson and Ethel (Ross) Wheeler. Mrs. Harriman was a 50-year resident of Northborough before moving to Leominster two years ago. She graduated from Hudson High School class of 1944. Virginia worked for Marlborough Footwear from the 1960s through the mid 1980s. She continued employment at the former Corning Co. in Marlborough, as a fiber optics technician until retirement in 2000. Her affiliations included: membership of the Red Hat Club and the Northborough Senior Center where she spend much of her time. Mrs. Harriman loved crocheting and puzzles.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, October 18, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough. Virginia's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Georgeson officiating. Burial will follow in Howard St. Cemetery, Nortborough.
