Arvene L.
Krushensky
January 15, 1930 – April 30, 2025
Shrewsbury, MA
formerly of Dunn Loring, VA
Arvene Louise (Pell) Krushensky passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 30, 2025. She was 95. Arvene leaves her loving husband of 64 years, Richard (Dick) Krushensky of Shrewsbury MA; her daughter Kari Thomas and her husband Ward, of West Boylston, MA; and her grandson Patrick Thomas. She was predeceased by her grandson Jack Thomas.
Born in Highland Park, Michigan on January 15, 1930, to Sophie (Nason) Pell, a seamstress, and Leonard Pell, a factory worker, Arvene had modest beginnings and big plans. At almost 6 feet tall with a determined personality, she was a force to be reckoned with. She put herself through college, graduating from Wayne State University in 1952 with a BA in Business Administration. She was the sole female student in her accounting classes. While she was still working on her degree, Wayne State hired her in its accounting department where she quickly worked her way up to Head of Accounting for Grants, Scholarships and Donations.
She met her husband Dick in 1955, and they were married in 1960. Their first years of marriage were spent overseas as Dick established his career in geology. Dick's first overseas assignment was in Venezuela. Two years later Dick was assigned to Costa Rica where Arvene became an outstanding cook and hostess. Her parties and spectacular table settings were legendary. Dick and Arvene welcomed their daughter, Kari in 1967. The family then lived in Turkey and Puerto Rico before settling in Dunn Loring, Virginia.
Arvene enjoyed seeing new places and in her travels with Dick, visited many countries throughout eastern and western Europe and Central and South America. Once back in the United States, Arvene began building her career ultimately establishing her own accounting company serving non-profit organizations, including Henry Kissinger Associates.
Arvene loved to talk with people. She was a wonderful listener and very generous with her advice. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Arvene was a collector of art, ceramics and jewelry; an avid golfer and swimmer; a sharp business woman; a brilliant cook; and a loyal friend.
At this time no public services are scheduled.
Arrangements have been under the care of Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA 01532. To leave a condolence or kind word of support online, for Arvene's family to read, please visit www.HaysFuneralHome.com.
