Obituary

Shrewsbury – Brett R. Cournoyer, 53, was stricken ill on a job site and passed away on September 13, 2017 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He leaves his devoted wife of 29 years, Eileen M. (VanArsdalen) Cournoyer; his three loving children, Brett Cournoyer II, Thomas Cournoyer and Danielle Cournoyer all of Shrewsbury; his mother, Diane (Poirier) Cournoyer of Northborough; his father Robert Cournoyer of FL; his sister, Michelle Cournoyer-Szczepaniak and her husband David of Auburn; his mother-in-law, Bernadette VanArsdalen of FL; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father-in-law, Robert VanArsdalen who passed away this past June. Born in Worcester and raised in Northborough, he lived in Shrewsbury for the past 30 years. Brett graduated from Algonquin Regional High School. An avid skier in the mountains of Vermont, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, clamming on Cape Cod and RI. He loved boat trips with his longtime friend Chuckie Roche. His best times were spent vacationing in Vermont with his family.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough. Brett's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 West Main St. Northborough. Burial will be private.
