Charles Peter Dexter

Charles Peter Dexter, 85, of Northborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026. Charles was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His presence, kindness, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charles was born in Framingham, Massachusetts, on June 29, 1941, to Charles and Edith Dexter. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965 and was a Vietnam Veteran.

Charles was a devoted member and steward of the Church of the Nativity. He also dedicated many years to his community, coaching youth hockey in Northborough for 13 years and serving on the Board of Directors for the North Star Youth Forum in Westborough. Charles was also deeply committed to his career at Raytheon, where he devoted 40+ years of dedicated service.

One of Charles's greatest passions was woodworking. He took great pride in furniture building and toy making, creating each piece with remarkable attention to detail and care. His craftsmanship was a reflection of his patience, creativity, and dedication, and the things he created will remain cherished by those fortunate enough to have received them.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara Dexter of Northborough, Massachusetts; his three sons, Wayne Dexter of Winchendon, Massachusetts, Keith Dexter of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, and Dean Dexter of Marlborough, Massachusetts; his four siblings, Carol Dexter of Framingham, Massachusetts, Cathy Dexter of Framingham, Massachusetts, Lori Dexter of Coconut Creek, Florida, and Richard Dexter of Milford, New Hampshire; his three grandchildren, Jacob Dexter, Raymond Dexter, and Anna Dexter; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be held at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, Massachusetts, on September 9, from 6 pm to 8 p.m. 

Charles’ funeral and celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, at the Church of the Nativity, 45 Howard Street, Northborough, Massachusetts. Burial with military honors will follow in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.

Charles will be remembered for the love and devotion he gave to his family, his commitment to his faith and community, and the kindness he showed to the many people whose lives he touched. He leaves behind not only a lifetime of memories, but also a legacy of love, service, craftsmanship, and generosity. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
