Chester V.
Lawson
January 21, 1941 – March 21, 2026
WESTPORT, MA
Chester V. Lawson, Jr., known by all as Chet, passed away on March 21, 2026, at the age of 85.
Chet was raised in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the son to the late Chester V. and Anna R. (Potkay) Lajmuc, Sr. He graduated from New Bedford High School before continuing his studies at college. From an early age, he strived to be the best he could be and was a proud Eagle Scout, an achievement that reflected the character, discipline, and integrity he carried throughout his life.
Chet spent his entire career in sales, with his final years working in modular home sales. He was known for his honesty, his ability to talk with anyone, and the genuine respect he earned from both customers and co-workers alike. Chet understood that properly serving a customer required a team effort, and he valued and respected the people he worked alongside throughout his career.
From 1964 to 2008, Chet and his beloved wife of 61 years, Linda A. (Sawyer), resided in Dedham. They cherished their summers at their home in Westport, where Chet especially enjoyed being on the ocean boating and fishing. After his retirement, they relocated to Westport full time.
A testament to his love and devotion, Chet dedicated himself as Linda's primary caregiver during the last 12 years of her life, until her passing in 2024. His care and commitment reflected the deep love and partnership they shared throughout their marriage. Chet remained in Westport until recently, when he relocated one final time to be closer to family.
Chet is survived by his two sons, Christopher Lawson and his wife Maureen, and Jeffrey Lawson and his wife Emma; and his six grandchildren, Ethan, Millard, Quin, Tyler, Trevor, and Alyssa. He was preceded in death by his only sister, Geraldine A. Holden.
At his request, services will be private and held at the convenience of his family.
