Clifford B.
Palmer
February 10, 1928 – April 11, 2026
NORTHBOROUGH
Clifford B. Palmer, affectionately known to all as "Johnnie," passed away on April 11, 2026, at the age of 98. He was the beloved husband of the late Constance "Connie" I. (Leard) Palmer, who died in 2012.
He is survived by his son, Clifford B. Palmer and his wife, Martha; his two daughters, Dolores Palmer and Deborah Berberian and her husband, Ted; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and his sister, Grace McFee. He was predeceased by his grandson, Theodore Berberian, Jr. and by his three brothers, Charles Palmer, Westley Palmer, Forest Palmer and by his two sisters Muriel Ryan and Effie Schenker.
Born in Northborough, Clifford was the son of the late Willoughby N. and Nina E. (Harrington) Palmer. He was raised in Northborough and remained a lifelong resident of the town he held dear.
Clifford was a proud Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 307th Airborne Engineer Battalion. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed at Westborough State Hospital, where he worked in the power plant for 35 years, serving many of those years as Power Plant Manager. He was also a member of the National Association of Power Plant Managers.
He gave generously of his time to the community, serving for many years as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 1 in Northborough. He was a 32° Master Mason and a longtime member of Siloam Masonic Lodge and the Aleppo Shrine.
Clifford enjoyed vintage farm machinery and as a member of Straw Hollow Engine Works – enjoyed the comradery while participating in its yearly gathering and show. He was known for his work ethic and the ability to fabricate and repair most anything. Without wanting anything in return, Clifford could be counted on to help when needed, a testament to his talent and generosity. He and Connie shared a love of travel, visiting destinations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. As an avid motorcyclist, Clifford continued to enjoy riding into his late 80s, often taking to the open road to visit friends and family.
