In Loving Memory of David Earle Chambers
October 14, 1947 – June 19, 2025
David Earle Chambers, 77, of Shrewsbury, MA, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025. Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, on October 14, 1947, David was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was marked by service, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family.
David proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam-era veteran. After his military service, he built his professional life in the grocery industry, working at Julio's until he was medically retired. He was known for his steady leadership, warm demeanor, dry humor, and quiet strength.
A devoted husband, David was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cheri Anne (Barr) Chambers, who passed in 2017. Together, they raised three sons: Brian (Derry, NH), Steven (Auburn, MA), and Michael (Holden, MA). David was a proud grandfather to Conner, Sabrina, Alexander (AJ), Lillian, Grace, Adrian, and Riley, all of whom brought him endless joy and pride.
He is survived by his sons and grandchildren, as well as his sister, Donna Rodgers of Haverhill. He was predeceased by his brother Bruce Chambers and sister Rosa Chambers.
David's roots were humble and his values strong, shaped by his parents Clarence "Scoop" Chambers and Irene (Sargent) Chambers. He carried those values throughout a life defined by resilience, hard work, and quiet generosity. David also gave his time in service to others, volunteering with the American Red Cross and the New England Organ Bank. His selfless nature was evident in both life and death. He was a long time member of the Northborough American Legion post 234. He spent many Sunday mornings there until his health no longer allowed.
David's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to New England Donor Services. Thanks to the gift of an organ donor, David received 29 more cherished years of life. In honor of this miracle and David's generous spirit, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to:
