Dorothy H.
Heskey
June 28, 1947 – August 6, 2025
NORTHBOROUGH
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Dorothy H. Heskey, 78, peacefully passed away, comforted by her faith and the knowledge that she would be welcomed into her eternal home by her Lord and Savior. She entered Heaven with grace, reuniting with her beloved husband and son, surrounded in spirit by the love of her family.
Dorothy was born in Boston and raised in Newton, the cherished daughter of the late Fredrick W. and Jane Emma (Roberts) Hamilton. She attended Newton Public Schools and graduated with honors from Newton High School in 1966. Following her love for care and service, she pursued nursing studies at Newton Junior College's School of Nursing.
It was during her high school years that Dorothy met the love of her life, William A. Heskey. High school sweethearts, they married in February of 1968 and built a life of steadfast love, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion over 56 years—until Bill's passing in 2024. Together they raised their family in Framingham, MA, after a brief time in Watertown, and eventually settled in Northborough in 2008.
Dorothy devoted her early years to nurturing her growing family and creating a warm and loving home. She later worked for ten years as an administrative assistant to the head of engineering at Polaroid Corporation, followed by sixteen years of service as a trusted security guard at Wellesley Green Condominiums. But no job ever meant more to her than being a homemaker—her most cherished title, filled with love, purpose, and selfless care.
She was a deeply compassionate woman with an extraordinary gift for listening. Her quiet strength, wisdom, and kind presence made Dorothy someone people naturally turned to. She had a remarkable way of making others feel seen, heard, and comforted. A devoted wife, grandmother, mother, sister, and friend, her love for her family radiated in everything she did.
A woman of great and abiding faith, Dorothy lived with the assurance of salvation and a heart full of trust in God's promises. She was a former member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in the women's group. In her later years, she found joy, fellowship, and peace at Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Northborough.
Dorothy loved taking trips, especially to New Hampshire, and held fond memories of traveling with Bill. Their journeys took them to Europe, England, Scotland, Wales, Bermuda, Alaska, and Canada—memories that she would hold dear long after the suitcases were unpacked.
Dorothy leaves behind her loving son, Kenneth Heskey, and her treasured granddaughter, Alexzandria Heskey, who both held a special place in her heart. Also surviving is Dorothy's sister, Charlotte A. Hamilton of Billerica, MA. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved son, James Heskey, in 2023 and her three brothers, William, Robert and Stephen Hamilton.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, August 11, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. Dorothy's funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 12, at Rice Memorial Baptist Church, 85 Lincoln Street, Northborough. Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her husband, William, and son, James, at Newton Cemetery on Walnut Street in Newton.
Dorothy loved the color bright red…. In her honor, the family invites you to wear a touch of red in celebration of her life and the love she shared so freely.
Throughout her life Dorothy had followed this mantra which she asked to be shared at the time of her passing " If you have any good to say – say it. If you dream of travelling somewhere – go. Be forgiving and kind to yourself…give to yourself while you still can".
Dorothy also truly believed in the guiding wisdom of God's Word. She requested to close her life story with this passage: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
