Edith Alice
Brewer
March 3, 1938 – February 21, 2025
BERLIN
Edith Alice (Nutting) Brewer, of Berlin, MA, at the age of 86, earned her ticket to Heaven on February 21, 2025; only 10 days away from her 87th birthday. She was the daughter to (late) Charles E. and Laura A. (Geers) Nutting and a 1956 graduate of Northborough High School.
During her working years Edith was employed at Colonial Press in Clinton, MA; Gen Rad in Concord, MA; Brewer's Buds in Berlin, MA and the Town of Berlin. Always one to make herself available and willing to help, Edith's pride in her hometown of Berlin was evident throughout the years. She belonged to numerous organizations, many of which she held leadership positions. Edith served as Past Moderator and Treasurer, along with volunteering on many other church committees of the First Parish Church of Berlin. She served as Past President of the Evening Guild, as Past President and Treasurer of the Berlin Art and Historical Society, as Past Master of the Berlin Grange, as a Girl Scout Leader, and Member of New England Chapter of Hudson Terraplane Essex Club.
Edith was also instrumental in the production and updating of the Berlin Phone Directory, the operation of Many Hands Thrift Shoppe in Berlin and the Restoration of Bullard House of Berlin. Her talents were many including creating flower arrangements, cake decorating, various crafts, making puzzles, painting, cooking, and caring for others.
Edith is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband for 67 years, Alfred W. Brewer; a daughter, Cynthia Bautista and her husband Gino; a son, Frank and his wife Beth; three grandchildren, Gino Bautista, Kelly Brewer, and Kathleen Smith; two nephews, three great nephews, a great niece and many friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara A. Hart.
Family and friends are invited to gather together for a 10:30am graveside on Saturday, March 1st, at South Cemetery on Pleasant St, Berlin.
