Elizabeth A. Robbins (January 29, 1961 – January 20, 2025)
Bar Harbor, Maine
Lexington, MA
Elizabeth Robbins, aged 63, died peacefully on January 20th in Framingham, Mass. She fought a nineteenth month battle with glioblastoma, and throughout that time, she was a model of courage and determination to all.
Liz grew up in Lexington, Mass. and in Bar Harbor, Maine, where she graduated from Mount Desert Island High School in 1979. She went on to pursue a degree in studio art from the University of Southern Maine, and a graduate degree in Interior Design from Pratt Institute. Liz worked in the field of interior design in NYC, and then pivoted to a career in teaching. She began her adventures in teaching in Brooklyn, New York's public school system as a middle school, special education teacher. In the mid-90's, Liz moved back to the MDI area, and taught first in Trenton, Maine and later in Tremont, Maine. In 2022, having devoted over 20 years to teaching special education, Liz began her retirement.
Liz was a lover of life with many passions, including cooking, exercise, and horses. She was an accomplished artist, she loved the beauty of Mount Desert Island, and held a deep respect for its natural resources. Above all, Liz possessed an enduring love of family. Liz was a beloved mother, sister, and friend, and she will be terribly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Julia Mace, and by three siblings: Joan Robbins, Jane Robbins, and David Robbins.
