Elvira G. (Otterson) Kimball passed away at the age of 98 on August 11, 2018, after a short period of declining health. Elvira was born in Worcester, a daughter to the late Pontus and Julia (Swenson) Otterson. She graduated from the Worcester Public Schools prior to studying at the former Salter Secretarial School and working as an executive secretary at the former Standard Foundry during WWII.

Elvira and her husband Everett E. Kimball moved to Northborough in 1953, where she served many years as a librarian for the Northborough Public Schools and was instrumental in the organization of several school buildings' libraries. After Everett's death in 1976, she continued to maintain her home in Northborough, moving to the Briarwood Retirement Community of Worcester in 2008. Elvira was recognized for her sharp intellect, independent spirit, and voicing of her opinion.

Elvira was proud of her Swedish heritage and enjoyed working with her hands as she mastered Early American painting, the art of gold leaf applications, and the tradition of braided rugs, many of which her family treasure today. Elvira enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. She worked at the Northborough Public Library and served as a greeter at UMASS Hospital - University Campus. She was a former member of Trinity Church of Northborough and Trinity Lutheran Church of Worcester.

She is survived by her daughter Tevis L. Kimball of South Hadley, MA, her son Scott A. Kimball of Ellsworth, ME and granddaughter, Ashley Hawkins-Kimball of Portland, ME. She was preceded in death by her sister, Astrid Crockett and two brothers Gunnar and Paul.
