Northborough - Gail S. (Kidder) Smith, 69, a lifelong resident of Northborough, passed away on January 1, 2018 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Her husband, Edward Smith died in 2016. She leaves behind her two children, Bonnie Sims of Northborough; Edward Smith Jr. and his wife Jean Miller Smith of Sterling, VA; two siblings, Karen Nelson and her husband David of Shrewsbury and Jeffrey Kidder of West Boylston; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Gregory Kidder. Born in Martha's Vineyard, she was the daughter of Paul and Lois (Shepherd) Kidder. Gail graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 1966 and attended Westfield State College. She worked at Baystate Circuits in Northborough and Millbury for 21 years. Mrs. Smith was most recently employed at Sears at Solomon Pond Mall. Gail had a passion for horses and spent over 20 years taking care of them at Quick Farms in Westborough. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough.
