George J. Leonard, 79, passed away September 1, 2016 in UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus in Worcester, after a prolonged illness. His wife Janice (Buxton) Leonard died in 1996 and a daughter Lori Rumsey died in 2015l. He leaves behind his children, Robin St. Jean of Northborough; Gregory Leonard of Hudson; Lynne Quiry of North Grafton; Deanne Mauro of Bradford; Dawn Kollett of Uxbridge; Kevin Leonard of Northborough and Mark Leonard of Westborough. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a brother Russell Leonard of Waltham; nieces and nephews. George was raised in Waltham and lived in Northborough for over 50 years. Mr. Leonard spent his career as an accountant at Raytheon Company in Waltham and Northborough for 35 plus years. He served as chairman of the Appropriations Committee for the Town of Northborough during the 1980s. One of his favorite past times was watching professional sports on TV.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough. George's funeral will take place on Thursday, September 8th at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Howard St. Cemetery.
