Gisele Marie Duguay passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the age of 97 years 11 months old. Gisele was born in Cap d'Espoir, a small village town along the Gaspé coastline in Quebec, Canada. She was the daughter of Edouard “Moise” Duguay and Alphonsine Duguay. She attended Catholic schools and came to the U.S. at age 18 for work, living with her older sister in Tonawonda, NY. There she met her future husband, Frederick Richell. They had twin girls, Brenda and Diane and moved several times eventually ending up in Burlington, Vt. She moved to Northborough, Mass. in 1996 to be near her daughter and for the last 2 years has resided in Lancaster.
Gisele was an active outdoors person, enjoying galloping on horseback and downhill skiing. She was active for many years with the senior centers in Northborough and Marlborough where she was an avid bridge player.
Gisele is survived by her daughter, Diane Flanders and husband Ernest of Fairfax, Vermont; her son-in-law, William Aubin of Northborough; her grandson, Bill Aubin in Millbury Mass; a granddaughter, Erica Aubin Wenning in Windham, ME and a grandson, Justin Flanders in Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Aubin, her sisters, Yvette Weber and Simonne Duguay and her brothers, Edouard, Hector and Jean-Claude Duguay.
