Gloria Patricia Wheeler, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at UMass-Memorial - University Campus on February 27, 2025, after a brief decline in health. She was 88 years old. Pat, as she was known by all, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of Charles and Ellen (Mugan) Andrews. She fondly recalled the day while at a local ice cream parlor with friends, she met her future husband, a young soldier named Joseph E. Wheeler. The couple would reside in Queens, New York, for several years before relocating their young family to Northborough in 1978.

For several years, Pat worked in customer sales at Ridgewood Jewelers in New York and at the Dress Barn in Shrewsbury. However, she considered the most important job was that of caring for her family and home. Pat enjoyed participating in local bowling leagues over the years, feeding peanuts to the squirrels and other wild animals which visited her yard and reading thriller novels. She loved all animals, most especially her dogs, PJ, Reggie and Benji, who provided her with companionship.

Surviving Pat is her son Kevin Wheeler of Shrewsbury; her daughter Donna and husband Joseph Miller of Plainfield, Indiana; a grandson Darren Miller, also of Plainfield, Indiana and a granddaughter, Chalane Miller of Lemon Grove, California. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in April 2024. Pat enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, most especially while watching Darren play soccer and baseball or spending time shopping and having a sleepover with Chalane.

A calling hour will be held 9:30 – 10:30am on Friday, March 7th, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. A funeral Mass will follow at 11am at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 W. Main Street, Northborough. Pat will then be laid to rest in Howard St. Cemetery in Northborough.
