Obituary

WORCESTER Herbert Andrew Hamilton, III, affectionately known as "Buzz" to all, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, after a long period of declining health; he was 79 years old. Buzz was born in Stoneham and raised in in Melrose, one of two sons to Herbert A. and Phyllis (Wallace) Hamilton, Jr. After his graduation from Melrose H.S. in 1961, Buzz began his studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering. Buzz worked as a software engineer throughout his career which included numerous years at Kaman Corporation, Digital Equipment and lastly, EMC Corp. As Buzz advanced in his career he and his beloved wife of 58 years, June E. Hamilton (ne Lockhart) resided in the communities of Enfield, CT, Northborough, and Shrewsbury before relocating to their current residence in Worcester. With a God-given talent of song, Buzz found a lifelong passion in singing. He was an active member and steadfast volunteer within several local vocal groups including Worcester's Men of Song, Assabet Valley Master Singers, and Northborough Community Chorus. He was a longtime member of Trinity Church of Northborough where he enjoyed singing in the church choir and volunteering of his time. Although known for his strong Baritone voice, Buzz could easily carry other ranges when needed. Although quite often quiet, Buzz's dry sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his loving wife June, Buzz is survived by a daughter, Valerie Hamilton; a son, Gregory Hamilton and his wife Margaret Price and three grandchildren, Tanner Winburn, Jesse Golliher and Henry Hamilton - all of whom reside in Worcester. Buzz also leaves his brother, David Hamilton and his wife Susan of Peabody; June's two sisters Linda Kane of Jefferson, NH and Joyce Greb of Malden and several nieces and nephews.
