Inez L.
Clemmer
March 7, 1933 – March 10, 2025
NORTHBORO - Inez 'Enie' (Andrade) Clemmer, 92, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday March 10, 2025, surrounded by her close family and friends. She was a daughter, wife, mother, sister, and aunt. A grandmother, great-grandmother, and recently, great-great grandmother. She was Enie, VoVoa, VisaVoa and Aunt Enie to so many.
Family was the most important thing to Enie. She became a matriarch to her young nieces and nephews after losing her sisters Elaine and Barbara much too young. She loved painting, writing and gardening. She stained furniture and climbed ladders after being told not to do so. She was a published author, writing a book about her Portuguese family and heritage so those traditions and stories could be passed down to future generations. Enie finally traveled to the Azores with her daughters in 1999.
Born in 1933 to Lena and Joseph Andrade, Enie grew up in Marlboro and graduated from Marlboro high school. She married her longtime sweetheart Speed in 1953. They swiftly left for Germany where he was stationed in Stuttgart. While there, she had her girls, Marybeth in 1954 and Susan in 1955.
Enie was stunningly beautiful throughout her whole life, though she remained humble and pooh-poohed anyone who complimented her. When going out or to a family event, she 'dressed to the nines', as she would say, always putting her best foot forward. She had pride and not a little bit of vanity. The perfect earrings and scarf were always necessary. She wore long skirts, and in the evenings, Speed's socks.
She was always optimistic and never complained. Enie's daughter, Susie, recently asked her how old she felt. She said that she's always felt the same as when she was a child. "I'm the same person, just older." After 61 years of marriage, two daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she felt like she had it all.
Enie is survived by her daughters, MaryBeth Rego and her husband Manuel, of Clinton, MA, Susan Jusseaume and her husband Steve of Hampton, NH; granddaughters Gina Vallee of Upton, MA, Andrea Terho of Ashburnham, MA, Sarah Jusseaume of Kingston, NH, Olivia Rego of Pepperell, MA., sisters Jean Powell of Worcester, Gypsy McGrath of Berlin and countless nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Harry 'Speed' Clemmer; grandson Nicholas Batista Rego; siblings, Elaine Pekouskas, Arthur Andrade, Barbara Gerard, Joseph Andrade, Jr., and Velma Donahue; and a young daughter, Barbara Jean.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, between the hours of 5-7pm at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA 01532. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Tuesday, March 18, at Saint Bernadette Parish, 266 Main Street, Northborough. Enie will then be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
Enie will continue to live in our hearts. To leave a message of kindness and support for her family, please visit www.HaysFuneralHome.com.
