Harwich Port, MA Jay J. Mahoney, a longtime resident of Harwich Port, MA passed away peacefully at The Reservoir Skilled Health Center of Marlborough on August 17, 2022; he was 85 years old. Jay was born in Boston and raised in Cambridge, one of three children to the late William and Ruth (Denehey) Mahoney. He was a graduate of the Cambridge Rindge High School. It was here that Jay served as class valedictorian and as a result of his excellence as a student, was awarded full scholarships to both Harvard University and Boston College. Jay completed his B.A. in English prior to earning his MBA in Finance, both from BC. He is an honored member of BC Hockey's Hall of Fame and was an active member of BC's Pike's Peak Club. Surviving Jay are his beloved wife of 57 years, Lynda M. (Maloney) Mahoney; their two daughters, Rachel M. Cronin of Northborough and Christin Mahoney of Newton and two grandchildren, William and Kathryn Cronin, all whom he loved dearly. Jay was preceded in death by his siblings, William Mahoney and Gael Louro. His family will always cherish Jay's supportive, funny yet caring ways. Jay always wanted to see everyone laugh and true to his nature, kept his sense of humor to his very last days. Following his wishes, Jay will be interred in the columbarium at Holy Trinity Church of Harwich Port after a private service for his family.
