Ms. Jie Pan, a renowned young soprano in Boston, vocal educator, and founder of the Pan Jie Vocal Studio and the Pan Children's Vocal Teaching Method, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after a courageous battle with illness. She was 45 years old.
Jie Pan was born on May 4, 1980, in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, China. From an early age, she was bright, diligent, and outstanding in both character and academics. After graduating from high school, she was admitted with honors to the Music Department of Hangzhou Normal University, where she completed her undergraduate studies. She later earned admission to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and successfully completed her master's degree.
After graduation, Jie became a music instructor at the School of Music and Dance of Zhejiang University of Media and Communications. During her tenure there, she was selected by the university to study in the United States as a visiting scholar at the University of Massachusetts. She later chose to remain in America and continued devoting herself to the music education career she loved.
During her years in the United States, Jie Pan received the care, support, and encouragement of many friends. She founded the Pan Jie Vocal Studio and devoted herself to developing the Pan Children's Vocal Teaching Method. Over the years, she performed on stages in both China and the United States and participated in many major events. With her outstanding artistry, dedication to teaching, and warm, sincere character, she earned widespread admiration from community leaders, music professionals, and audiences alike.
Through her passion and talent, she nurtured generation after generation of young music lovers in both countries, sharing songs, knowledge, and dreams with countless children. Most notably, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising and training her nine-year-old daughter, Mirabel Pan Weston who became a child star singer in the United States and performed the national anthems of the United States and Canada in major sports arenas at home and abroad.
Jie's life was one of diligence, dedication, and honor. The work she devoted herself to throughout her life was not only the greatest pride of her parents, but also a source of pride for the Chinese community.
Although Jie Pan has left us, her voice, her love, her spirit, and her light will remain forever in the hearts of all who loved and remember her.
May Jie Pan rest in peace in heaven
