John A. Witzel, of Shrewsbury, formally of Sudbury and Northborough, passed away on July 17, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer; he was 67 years old. John was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Walter and Doris (Scoones) Witzel. He was proud to be a Marine, having served his country during Vietnam.

Keeping his needs simple, his passions were hot rods, greasy food, coffee with the guys, hanging at Tilz, and just plain doing as he pleased. Living life full throttle, he enjoyed street racing from time and was recognized as Top Dog at the A&M in Marlborough. He leaves his daughter Jennifer Michalik and her husband Michael; his son Paul Witzel and his wife Rachel Donovan; four grandchildren whom he loved to tease, Bradley, Tyler, Emily, and Andy; former wife Gayle Witzel; nieces, nephews, numerous friends, and his beloved '57 Chevy.
