SHREWSBURY
John R. Becker, age 76, of Shrewsbury, MA, passed away in his sleep during the early morning hours of Monday, September 18, 2023. He was born in Worcester on September 15, 1947 and is predeceased by his parents Karl and Viola (Samuelson) Becker of Worcester; siblings, Philip Becker and wife Elizabeth (Blomquist) Becker of Sutton; Richard Becker and his wife, Maeve (Hastings) Becker of Worcester; brother-in-law, Francis Carlin of Worcester; and nephews, Brian and Glenn Carlin.
John is survived by his son, John "Jay" Becker of Shrewsbury; daughter, Jill Becker-Witherell and her husband, Neil Witherell and a grandson, Jack Witherell all of Louisville, KY; siblings, Joan (Becker) Murray and her husband, John of East Dennis; Barbara (Becker) Carlin of Jefferson; Kenneth of Fitchburg; along with a nephew and many nieces.
He attended Quinsigamond Community College prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force as a MP during the Vietnam War. Upon returning, he attended Worcester State College and graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in 1975 for Administrative Studies. He managed the Aladan Vacuum Center in Worcester for decades as well as worked security for Securitas Security Service at the Intel site in Hudson.
John loved movies, reading, coffee, his sporty Miata car but above all, his Grandson. He was a doting Morfar to his 18 month old Grandson who was named in honor of John.
Calling hours will take place Monday, September 25, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. –6:30 p.m. at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. John's funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, at Salem Covenant Church, 215 East Mountain Street, Worcester. John will then be laid to rest, following Military Honors, in the Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
