Obituary

John Anthony Marciello

1940-2024

John A. Marciello passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 surrounded by family members and friends. He was 84 years old. John was the son of Angelo Marciello of New Mexico, and Marie (Puopolo) Rice of Reno, Nevada. John grew up in the Boston area, graduating from East Boston High School and Northeastern University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. As a chemical engineer John worked at Texaco, Borden Chemical, and Polaroid for 30 years advancing to Level 10 Senior Process/Production Engineer. John was a recognized expert in several chemical engineering areas and held patents for his original innovations.

John was an accomplished handyman, with skills in plumbing, carpentry, auto mechanics, masonry, and winemaking taught by his grandfather, Alessandro. His curiosity and talents were recognized by many, and Papa could always be depended upon to show you "how to do it." With his wife of 62 years, Carol, they resided in Burlington, MA for over 50 years until moving to Northborough, MA. John and Carol's home was always filled with family and friends enjoying the pool or a home-cooked meal.

John was dedicated to his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He met Carol in East Boston in 1957 and thus began a love story that lasted over 62 years.

John was a committed believer in Yeshua, the Son of God. Born into a Roman Catholic family, John was later baptized as a born-again believer in 1991. With his wife, Carol, they sought the Lord and became Messianic Christians. They enjoyed attending Messianic Schul, and John's last congregation was Beth Yeshua Messianic Congregation in Newton.

John is survived by his wife, Carol of Northborough, MA; his son, Robert, and his wife, Vanessa, of Bucks County, PA; his son, David and his wife, Heather, of Rehoboth, MA; his daughter, Joanna Goddard and her husband, Scott, of Northborough, MA; his brother, Will Claney, of San Francisco, CA, his good friend and brother-in-law, Thomas and Janice Zuzelo of Naples, FL; his ten grandchildren who called him Papa (Nicholas, Jessica, Alessandra, Evangelia, Anastasia, Nathan, Andrew, Timothy, Sarah, and Joy); two great-grandchildren (Judah John and Josephine); as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be planned in the Spring of 2025.
