DANIELSON, CT
WEBSTER, MA
Kevin Jay Donahue, 75, of Danielson, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2023. At the time of his passing, Kevin was surrounded by the supportive love of his wife of 44 years, Mary B .Hughes – Donahue.
Kevin was born in Webster, MA, the son of Francis and Avis (Lamontagne) Donahue. Kevin spent most of his younger years in the Dudley and Sturbridge areas and shortly after high school, enlisted into the United States Marine Corps where he honorably served during the Vietnam War. Upon his return home, Kevin worked several years at American Optical, Co. With a passion for automobiles, Kevin took employment as an automotive car salesman. For several years Kevin worked in the sales at Duddy Dodge in Worcester and Louis Chevrolet in Dudley. He later followed his dream of opening his own used car business, 21st Century Motors, in Southbridge.
As a proud U.S. Marine and Vietnam veteran, Kevin looked to help other veterans in need. He assisted with veteran self-help groups, volunteered at the Danielson Methodist Church's Soup Kitchen, was a life member of the D.A.V. and looked forward to participating in local Veteran Day parades. Kevin was pro-America, very patriotic and was ever willing to engage in political discussions. He found happiness in attending the many Hughes Family functions and considered that family as his own.
Over the years, Kevin and Mary traveled the country together. They would head out on day trips to no-where particular, just to grab a lunch. Kevin enjoyed the ocean, spending time on the beach and caring for his two cats, Hissy Kissy and Goldie. In addition to his wife, Kevin is survived by two daughters from a previous marriage, Kim Gelineau and Gina Marie Donahue; a sister, Patricia Frenier and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Francis Donahue, Jr., Kerry Donahue, Richard Donahue, and Lee Donahue.
Visitation has been set for Monday, December 18, between the hours of 9 to 10:15 a.m. in Tri-State Baptist Church, 386 Quinebaug Rd, North Grosvenor Dale, CT 06255. Kevin's funeral will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m.
Interment with Military Honors will take place in East Thompson Cemetery, 290E Thompson Rd, Thompson, CT.
Kevin's family respectfully request any memorial donations be directed to Toys for Tots (www.toysfortots.org) or Wounded Warrier Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org), both of which were favorite programs of Kevin.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA.
