Obituary

NORTHBOROUGH

Kevin J. Harrington, age 52, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kevin was raised in Northborough and was one of three children of Joseph E. and Marsha H. (Carey) Harrington. He attended Northborough public schools and was a 1991 graduate of Algonquin Regional High School. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree in Business from Northeastern University and later received his MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Kevin began his career with Fidelity Investments in 2000. Over the next 25 years, he served with dedication in the Marlborough, MA; Merrimack, NH; and most recently the Smithfield, RI corporate offices. His professionalism and skill set were admired and respected by his coworkers.

Kevin had a love for sports and was a true New England sports fan, enjoying the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, and Bruins through every season. A man of stature, his tall 6'7" frame could be intimidating—especially while doing what he loved most: umpiring baseball. Over more than 30 years as an umpire, Kevin became known for his fairness and accuracy behind the plate. He was a lifetime member of the Massachusetts Baseball Umpires Association and served on its Ethics Board. Despite his height and presence, Kevin was known for his steady, easygoing manner and his kind and gentle spirit. Friends often referred to him as the "Gentle Giant" and the "Ultimate Gentleman."

In addition to being a sports enthusiast, Kevin enjoyed karaoke and could often be found performing at the MCL in Worcester, where he was known as "Red."

Kevin is survived by his beloved mother, Marsha; his brother, Jeffrey E. Harrington and his wife Sara; his sister, Robin L. Harrington; as well as his niece and three nephews whom he adored: Aliyah, Jeffrey Jr., Nikolas Harrington, and Jaxon E. Farrell. Kevin also leaves his longtime companion, Cindy Supernor and her two children Courtney and Caleb Supernor. Preceding Kevin in death was his father, Joseph, who passed away in 2021. Kevin's family would also like to thank all of his friends who supported him during his health challenges—especially Joe Hilton, Eric Goldstein, Richard Herron, Nick D'Andrea and Erik Swift, who went above and beyond to help in any way possible.
