Marsha J. (Sibley) Sargent, a lifelong resident of Northborough, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years old, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, while surrounded in the supportive love of her two devoted daughters and families.
Born in Oakham and raised in Northborough, Marsha was the eldest of three daughters to Howard D. and Irna (Karp) Sibley. She graduated from Northborough High School, Class of 1957. In 1958, she married Richard W. Sargent and began their 59 year journey together, only separated by Richard's own passing in 2017. For most of her life she focused on caring for her beloved family. For several years, Marsha served as a clerk within the Northborough Tax Collection office. Marsha enjoyed the simple things in life and believed in quietly supporting those in need. Marsha was a member of Trinity Church of Northborough. For many years, volunteered her time as a Sunday School teacher, serving as an usher and assisting with the Community Meals program held there. Most especially, Marsha looked forward to any time spent with her children and enjoyed following her grandchildren's activities.
Surviving Marsha are her two daughters and their spouses, Darlene and Paul Murphy of Barre; Barbara and Andy Dowd of Northborough; seven grandchildren, Logan, Brendan, Keerin and Colleen Murphy and Alex, Jackson and Molly Dowd; a sister, Noreen Starkey of Northborough, nieces and nephews. Marsha was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Flanders.
Following Marsha's wishes of being quietly laid to rest, a 10:30am graveside service will be held in Howard Street Cemetery in Northborough, on Thursday, May 1st. There are no public calling hours planned.
Marsha's family wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Rose Monahan for the care shown to Marsha during her time there.
