Mildred J. "Mim" (Thomae) Ewing 1927-2014

Mim passed April 21, 2014, Jock passed November 25, 2013. Mim was born to the sterling silver manufacturing family of Charlie & Elsie (Jepson) Thomae, in Attleboro, were she was raised with her brother Charles. She graduated Attleboro High in 1945. At RISD she met Navy veteran and skilled draftsman Jock Ewing and they married in 1949 following her graduation with a degree in Calligraphy. She worked for Swank in Attleboro before moving to Berlin in 1959. Mim freelanced in graphic design and crafts until she joined Robert W. Skinner in 1969. While at Skinner she was bidding registrar, clerk & sign designer/painter. Over time she became expert in her areas of interest including toys, dolls & teddy bears, oriental antiques, silver and decorative arts. Active in the Berlin community, her memberships included 1st Parish Church Fair Committee, Library Trustee and Tahanto Reg. HS Scholarship Committee and the Berlin Art & Historical Society (acting board member until her death). She leaves her daughter, Brenna Ewing; three grandchildren, Blais Aldridge and his wife Denielle, Tyler Rollock and Sarah Ewing; her brother Charles and his wife Diane (Lees) Thomae of Norton, her nieces Leesa (Thomae) Crogan and Suzanne (Thomae) Forbes and their families, numerous cousins and her grandson Edric Aldridge.

A memorial service will be held on June 1, 2014 at 2 pm in the First Parish Church of Berlin, 24 Central Street, Berlin, MA. The Reverend Oscar Wallace will officiate. There are no calling hours.
