Norma
Taylor
April 5, 1933 – January 19, 2024
In the early evening hours of Friday, January 19, 2024, Norma (Gabrielson) Taylor, aged 90 years, peacefully closed her eyes to this life and was reunited with her husband John R. Taylor and their beloved son, Wesley J. Taylor, both who predeceased her. Norma is survived by two children, Rhonda M. Tanner and her husband Robert of Charlton, MA and Kevin J. Taylor and his wife Shelby of Parkman, ME; Six grandchildren, Darcy Kmiotek, Joshua Kmiotek, Tammy Koopman, Kristy Taylor, Sarah Lawler, Theodore Taylor, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her four sisters and brothers, Jeanette George, Phyllis Presbrey, Norman Gabrielson and Warren Gabrielson.
Norma and her twin brother Norman were born in Burrillville, RI, the children of Arthur and Loretta (Bonin) Gabrielson. She spent her younger years in Harrisville, RI and in 1953 married her husband, John. The couple first resided in Glendale, RI, where they began raising their young family, then relocated to upper Hill Street in Whitinsville where they would remain for many years. In the late 1980s Norma and John made their home in the Wilkinsonville area of Sutton where they would remain together until John's passing in 2016. Norma proudly and independently continued to maintain her own home for several years until moving to Auburn in 2022 to be closer to her family.
In her earlier years Norma, who was lovingly referred to as "Auntie Sister" by family and friends, enjoyed camping and canoeing with John and their friends. They enjoyed day trips and spending time with their grandchildren. Norma had a talent with handiwork and found pleasure in crafting projects and sewing, gardening and bird watching. She loved her Red Sox and thoroughly enjoyed tracking the team's players throughout the seasons for many years. She looked forward to spending time in the kitchen, cooking and baking treats for her family and friends along with playing various card games and especially, the tile game Rummy-O. Those who knew Norma will miss her quiet demeanor, willingness to help out and quick witted personality.
