Patricia Ann Cray (née Smith) passed away peacefully on February 23, 2022 at home per her wishes, while surrounded by her loving family after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Patricia is survived by her daughter Courtney Reed and her husband Justin, their son Lincoln and daughter Lisa of Worcester, MA. Patricia is also survived by her mother Mary Smith of Bellows Falls, VT, who just recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Patricia is also survived by her sister Mary Emerson and her husband Tedric of Cambridge, NY; her brother Edward Smith and his wife Laurel of Charlestown, NH; by her sister-in-law Kathleen (Sue) Durham and her husband Steve of South Carolina; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other beloved family members. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years David Cray; her son Jason Cray; her father Stanley Smith, and her three brother-in-laws, Laurence Cray, Michael Cray and Patrick Cray.

Patricia was a proud graduate of Bellows Falls High School (Bellows Falls, VT) and a member of the class of 1968. She went on to Castleton State College to earn a degree in teaching. After several years of being a stay-at-home mom raising her 2 children, she went back to teaching in the Northborough School District. She taught special education for over 20 years and absolutely loved what she did.

Before her husband became sick, Patricia enjoyed spending weeks down the Cape or in Maine with her family, going to the beach and finding new places to go out to eat. Patricia loved watching golf, NASCAR, the Red Sox and the Patriots. She was an avid news junkie and loved reading, many times having multiple books going and belonged to a monthly book (wine and snacks) club. Patricia loved hosting "porch parties" with her friends and family, shopping and trips to NY for family parties on the farm.

A memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11am in St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 W. Main Street, Northborough. a private interment will take place at a later time. Arrangements are under the care of Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough.
