Obituary

Patricia Ann Parker-Thayer, 90, of Northborough, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in the early morning of December 7, 2025.

Born May 7, 1935, in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts to Lawrence Thayer Parker and Marion Elizabeth Ham, Pat graduated from Northborough High School in 1953. As a single mother, she raised her children Holly, Carol, and Peter in Northborough, Massachusetts. She worked as a Court Clerk for the 1st District Court of Eastern Worcester from 1964 to 1974, and later as an Administrative Assistant at Polaroid, EMC, and Digital Corporation, until her retirement in 2000.

A woman of wide-ranging interests and far-reaching curiosity, Pat practiced an eclectic spiritualism throughout her life. From 1974 to 1978, she owned and operated The White Crow, an occult and metaphysical bookstore in Northborough. She was initiated by spiritual teacher Adano Ley in 1973, a practice that shaped her exploration of consciousness, the nature of the soul, and the search for spiritual meaning.

Pat's greatest passion was genealogy, with her extraordinary dedication to research allowing her to trace her family lineage back hundreds of years. In her exploration of the family tree, she uncovered countless family stories, going back to the founding of our country and beyond, to our European ancestry, cataloging dozens of generations and their stories.

An early and avid adopter of technology, Pat embraced personal computing and never let innovation pass her by. She was an avid texter and connoisseur of Peanuts gifs, often staying up later than her grandchildren, surfing the internet and researching family history, always proud to let us know that she was up later than us, living life.

In her free time, Pat loved working on her genealogy database, quilting, playing word games like Scrabble, and gardening. Above all, she loved her family, especially her great-granddaughters. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who helped raise multiple generations of her family. In her later years, her progressive values, sharp wit, and radically open mind never wavered.

She is survived by her brother Glenn; her son, Peter; her daughter, Carol (Penny the First); her grandchildren Adam, Audrey, Emily, Sam, Zach, and Matthew; and her great-granddaughters Penny (the Second), Norah, Amelia, and Zoey. She will be dearly missed by all.

There are no arrangements planned at this time. Arrangements are under the care of Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough, MA. To leave an online condolence for Patricia's family, please visit www.HaysFuneralHome.com.
