Paul G. Lamarre, Sr, 76, passed away unexpectedly at home with his beloved family by his side on Thursday morning, December 29, 2022. Lefty, as Paul was affectionately known, was the son of George T. and Loretta (Chauvin) LaMarre. He was raised in Dudley and was a 1965 graduate of Bartlett Vocational High School where he studied automotive. Lefty remained in the Quiet Corner region for all of his life; the past 43 years of which he resided at his home in Thompson. It was here Lefty enjoyed caring for his property, relaxing by the fire pit and watching his children and grandchildren grow up.
Lefty was a dedicated employee of 30 years to Frito Lay Corp of Dayville, CT. After his retirement he found pleasure in making candles at the Wizard Candle Factory in Putnam, CT and later, as a baker at Automatic Rolls of Dayville. In his earlier days Lefty was known for his skill as a rhythm guitarist for the local band The Cyclones and for his love of muscle cars, most especially GTOs. He found solace in being outside in nature and looked forward to deer and bear hunting and vacationing with his family on China Lake. Lefty enjoyed sharing his passion of fishing with his son, David.
Surviving Lefty are his devoted wife of 54 years, Kathleen R. (Hughes) LaMarre; a daughter Lisa A. Corrette and her husband Wayne of Webster, MA; a son David J. LaMarre of Thompson, CT; seven grandchildren, Brady, Marissa and Amanda Corrette, Megan and Sarah LaMarre, Tyler and Joshua LaMarre. Lefty also leaves his sister Colleen Mayo and her husband Charles of Putnam, CT, numerous nieces and nephews and his large extended Hughes family. A son, Paul G. LaMarre, Jr passed away in 2014.
Lefty's funeral will be held at 11 o'clock in the morning on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in the Tri-Sate Baptist Church, 386 Quinebaug Rd, North Grosvenor Dale, CT. There are no public calling hours. Interment in E. Thompson Cemetery will be private, for his family.
