Northborough/Bellingham Paul M. Taylor, 62, was stricken ill and died suddenly at his home in Bellingham from heart complications on Thursday December 12. He leaves his soulmate, devoted and most beloved wife of 31 years, Rosemary (Phaneuf) Taylor; his loving children Mandy Taylor and her fiance Tim of Bend, Oregon; Mary McCarthy and her husband Sean of Norwell; Benjamin Hesselton and his wife Stacey of Grafton. He will be greatly missed by his adoring grandchildren Alex, Isabella, Sydney, Hayden, Kristin, Brody and Andrew; his sweet sisters Cynthia Dayotas of Westborough and Karen Mueller of Northborough; and dozens of friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Paul was especially close to a large team of colleagues working with him at EMC Corporation in Franklin and Milford and took much joy in his role of mentor to his younger staff. Paul is predeceased by his brother Joel. Born in Waltham and raised in Northborough, he was the oldest son of Earl and Dorothy (Leland) Taylor. He graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 1970 where he excelled in football and scholastics. Paul had a long and successful career working in the technology and computer development fields and traveled extensively while completing his college requirements. He was then recruited by the former Data General Corporation in Southborough. He rose quickly through the ranks until his division was purchased by Sun Microsystems. There he became involved in new product development and was responsible for creating Sun's first network-attached storage product. After that he moved onto EMC to return to his first love of education and training. In their Global Delivery Division, he took on the role of manager of technical education. He spent the last 10 years working as a Global Education Consultant for EMC out of their Franklin office, and enjoyed the work he did there immensely. Paul was always very active and enjoyed his time outdoors playing golf, kayaking, and going for long hikes in the woods with Rose during his time living in Stow and also down on the beaches in Plymouth near Pinehills. Paul loved traveling with his wife and riding his Harley. He was a low handicap golfer all of his life, growing up playing at Juniper Hills in Northborough and continuing in many weekly golf leagues with his work colleagues in and around Northborough and Franklin. He and Rosemary traveled extensively, taking trips to France, Hawaii, Europe, and many other places. Earlier in their lives they were active scuba divers and had many great memories of vacations with their friends to the Caribbean. A devoted family man known to his grandchildren and family as Dampa, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 beginning at 5:00 pm at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club, 284 East Temple St, Boylston, MA.
