Phyllis A.
Dodge
April 6, 1935 – April 3, 2025
NORTHBOROUGH
In the early morning hours of April 3, 2025, three days before her 90th birthday, Phyllis A. Dodge passed away peacefully in her sleep. Phyllis was born in Worcester and raised in Sutton, by her late parents Ezra and Alice (Ray) Marble. She graduated from Sutton High School prior to earning her RN Certificate from Hannemann Hospital's School of Nursing, in the class of 1956.
In 1963, Phyllis settled in Northborough where she raised her family. Throughout her career, Phyllis was employed as a registered nurse, dedicating her skills and compassion towards others at the former Granger Nursing Home, the former Lincoln Nursing Home and the Westborough State Hospital. Although assertive and ambitious when given a task, Phyllis will be remembered for her gentle, kind, loving and compassionate personality.
When not focusing on the care and needs of others, Phyllis enjoyed shopping, camping, tending to her flower gardens, reading and challenging friends and family to Scrabble, a hand of Cribbage or game of Pitch. In later years, she looked forward to spending wintertime in Florida where she could visit with friends and family.
Surviving Phyllis are her five children, Amy Carlson (John), Jeffrey Dodge (Christine), Carey Dodge (Jayme), Kent Dodge (Cindy Hastings), Kurt Dodge (Debbie Aird); five grandchildren, Megan Dodge-Zabell (Brandon), Samantha Lacasse (Moe), Katie McCaffrey, James Dodge, Preston Dodge and one step granddaughter Amy Loy and step grandson Ian Parker. She also leaves six great-grandchildren Edward, Jasper, Emmitt, Eloise, Roman and Sydney. Phyllis was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amanda McCaffrey, a sister Jean Clarke, a son-in-law James McCaffrey and by her former husband Herbert Dodge.
Calling hours have been scheduled for Monday, April 7, from 5-7 p.m., at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. Phyllis' funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, at First Congregational Church of Sutton, 307 Boston Road, Sutton. Interment will follow in Old Howard Cemetery, Sutton.
Phyllis' family respectfully ask in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be directed to the resident activity fund of Notre Dame Health Care Center, Attn: Development Office, 555 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
