Sandra L.
Wentzell
March 5, 1938 – August 17, 2021
Boylston, MA
Sandra L. (Caine) Wentzell passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021; she was 83 years old. Sandy was born in Somerville, MA, in 1938 to Edward Caine, born in Magog, Quebec, and Alexandra (Roach) Caine, born in Cull's Harbour, Newfoundland.
She grew up in Holliston, MA, graduating from Holliston High in 1956 and voted class dreamer and night owl. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Sybil Kellogg of Loda, IL, Joan Hill of Athens, GA, and Nancy Caine of Mattapoisett, MA.
Sandy is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years John Wentzell of Boylston, MA, her children Robert Fraize of Whitinsville, MA, John Fraize Jr. and wife Dina Shea-Fraize of Northborough, MA, and Deborah Fraize of Manchester, MA, and her grandchildren Justin, Samuel, Joshua, and Gabriel Fraize and Ryan Shea, all of whom she was immensely proud. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Susan Morin of Westborough, MA, brother-in-law Richard Hill of Athens, GA, brother-in-law Fred Wentzell and wife Donna Wentzell of Shrewsbury, MA, former daughter-in-law Susan McDermott of Berlin, MA, and many beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Except for a few years in mid '60s in Robbinston, ME, Sandy worked in Central Mass. for her entire life, including for many years: Ken's Steak House in Framingham; the former Dinette and Cow Shed in Westborough; and the former Digital Equipment and DECUS in Marlborough. She made lifelong friends wherever she worked.
Sandy loved country music, line dancing, gardening, overfeeding the wildlife in her yard, and spending time with her husband and friends at her timeshare in Coco Beach, FL. She drove El Caminos for much of the '70s and '80s, and she never met a cat or dog she didn't love.
Her family would like to thank all the kind and competent people who cared for her over the past few years as her health failed, including Lynn Whynot, Nancy Velleco and the staff at The Branches of Marlborough.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 12, 2021, from 2 to 5 pm, at The Bay Path Barn, 119 Central Street, Boylston, MA. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Home for Little Wanderers (www.thehome.org) or the Animal Rescue League of Boston (www.arlboston.org).
