William R. Warner, 80 of Northborough MA, passed away peacefully April 13, 2015. He was the only child of Alice (Olsen) and Donald Warner of Sterling, MA. He made the cut in the "Lifetime Golf Tournament" by shooting an 80 (age) and finishing the 18th hole with a double eagle and a smile on his face. Willie was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School and worked at GTE as a Mechanical Designer for 30 years. He loved to be around people, the great outdoors, and sports. He was a freshwater fisherman as a teen and an avid golfer and bowler throughout his adult life.As a young father, he shared his love of sports with his two boys, Eric and Brett. He was a founding member of the Northboro Youth Ice Hockey League and continued to support the program for twenty years. In addition, he jumped on the ice and was a first-rate goalie coach to his son, Brett. He is most fondly remembered as "Uncle Will" or "Willie", a lover of New England sports teams and a devoted Patriot's season ticket holder. In 1992 his dedication was formally recognized when he received the honorable "Patriot's Fan of the Year" award. Will loved flea markets, antiques, and collectables. He had an amazing tool collection and workbench. His passion for repairing household items was always appreciated by family and the many friends and neighbors he frequently helped. He filled his family's lives with fun, thoughtful gifts and wonderful memories. Grampy was always first to find the special toy his grandsons wanted, or the unusual item a friend would request. He loved forty years of family vacations in Ocean Park, Maine. He also enjoyed traveling the east coast with his wife of 55 years in their retirement RV. Will is survived by his wife, Shirley (Metcalf) Warner, his son Brett Warner and his wife Cindy and their two sons, Ben and Adam Warner, all of Cedar Park Texas; and his son Eric Warner and his wife Paula and their sons Matthew and Brian Warner of Westford MA.
